DLF Public school hosted a three day long IBM-CBSE Artificial Intelligence (AI) High School Program for Principals and Teachers from over 200 progressive schools across North India and from Oman, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Muscat and Australia. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Joseph Emanuel, Director Academics, CBSE. Sharing the relevance of the program, he stated that, ‘The CBSE among its numerous initiatives, has pioneered to introduce Artificial Intelligence in the school curriculum in order to ensure that current students are AI workforce ready.’ The program has been introduced as a skill subject for grades IX-X, along with a 12-hour ‘inspire’ module for grade VIII. Chairperson CBSE, Ms. Anita Karwal in her address to the august gathering said, ‘We need to give youth the opportunity to learn and understand AI-based concepts and technologies that they already experience in their everyday lives that will help them build a better world for themselves and be connected with the careers of tomorrow. AI readiness with an innovation readiness mind-set can propel students to achieve limitless possibilities.’ Mr. R.P. Singh, Joint Secretary, CBSE shared that with this initiative CBSE intends to integrate AI into all the subjects, for all its learners. Principal Seema Jerath expressed that, ‘AI is the new electricity –The biggest disruption in human history. If we are optimistic, we can look forward to numerous possibilities. AI needn’t be a threat; it can be a promise, if we could exercise these human choices mindfully such that they EMPOWER but don’t OVERPOWER.
