Yoga and mindfulness have been an integral part of the Physical Education curriculum for over a decade now at DLF Public School Ghaziabad. The school firmly believes that practicing yoga aligns the mind, body and soul in harmony with the nature. Extending the benefits of this unique physical and mind exercises to many more, this International Yoga Day, school organised a yoga session for all its stakeholders during which close to 100 of students, parents and teachers participated. During the early morning yoga session held in the school premises everyone performed different asanas under the able guidance of school yoga coach Ms. Gagandeep Kaur. ‘In today’s fast-paced life, yoga techniques for self-health, relaxation, and inner fulfilment prepare one to navigate life’s challenges with a little more ease. Yoga at an early age encourages self-esteem and body awareness. Fostering cooperation and compassion—instead of opposition—is a great gift to give to our children,’ advocated Principal Seema Jerath. ‘Yoga is a systematic and methodical process to control and develop mind and body to attain good health, balance of mind and self-realization. It also helps reduce the effect of stress and other physical ailments’, stresses School Yoga Coach Gagandeep Kaur. ‘Yoga is feeling of connection with oneself and everyone around. Yoga helps us get in touch with our source, the very essence of our being. When we are established with that source, we experience bliss, peace, love for all, compassion, and a smile that does not fade, come what may! Yoga comes as a powerful force to heal the differences and bring harmony.’ opined a few of the participating parents and teachers.
