Dr. P. Sathyanarayan, President, SRM University inaugurated the 2nd B.Tech programme at SRM University, AP Amaravati. The batch comprises of 1020 students, 33% of which are girl students. The students have chosen to be a part of the programmes in Computer Science Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering courses. SRM University AP-Amaravati will also take in students for its M.Tech and also Ph.D. programmes in Engineering from this academic year. Mr K Seshu Babu, Director Investments at The Andhra Pradesh Non Resident Telugu Society (AP-NRTS) was the guest of honour at the event and delivered the inaugural address. He asked the students to study with dedication and work towards making the most of the opportunities available to them during their 4 golden years of engineering education. Dr. P. Sathyanarayan, President, SRM University, welcomed the students and said that SRM University is committed to providing the students with a unique curriculum that helps them to excel in their chosen fields of study. In addition, he talked about IDEAL (Inter Disciplinary Experiential Active Learning) and its focus on a combination of Engineering with arts that help the students to develop into holistic individuals. He also shared that the University of California has agreed to offer one semester course for ten students from SRM University, AP Amaravati, in this year from five students in the last year. Prof. D. Narayana Rao, Pro- Vice Chancellor, focused on Research and Development and Innovative opportunities available to the Engineering students. Sharing some of the main projects, he said that the University is gearing up to ‘Mission Moon’, building a ‘Solar road’ at the University, constructing an offshore wind farm and completing research on ‘Hydrogen train’ which would run without electricity and diesel. Dr. D Gunasekharan, Registrar, SRM University, introduced the key management and faculty who are entrusted with the responsibility of the well being of the students and assist and mentor them in any way possible.
