Some things go lifelong and so does the class 12th marks. Be it for seeking admission in college, getting first job or for promotion, class 12th marks became a benchmark for admissions in the Universities. But it may not hold true now as there are ample opportunities available to students who may have scored less but are focused and know their goals. Since the results are important, a student is always dreaded on the D Day fearing the numbers in their percentage that would decide his/her fate for the next three or four years. Toppers take the cake away but students securing between 60 to 75% need not be stressed, as many of the private universities, including Amity University offer a bouquet of courses which does not require a student to have the perfect score. He/she can still opt for an under graduate course choice and students are assessed not only on the basis of their class 12th marks but also an English entrance exam alongwith interview which helps evaluate the core competency of the student. We all have heard the cliché that those who get less marks in class 12th boards should take up either humanities or commerce as science is not their cup of tea. But with private universities like Amity offering a number of options in science courses as well, this age old thought can be easily done away with. For instance, students with PCM or PCB in class 12 securing 60 percent can apply in B Tech Biotech or B Tech Bioinformatics; Bachelor of Statistics or B. Sc. Hons in Mathematics. Similarly, students securing 55 percent in PCM or PCB in class 12th have multiple options to choose from like Medical Biotechnology evening program and other evening programs. Students can also opt for BSc in Marine Science, Forensic Science, Occupation Therapy, Agriculture, Physiology and many more. Along with these courses, subjects like Behavioral Science, Communication Skills and a foreign language are compulsory for every student whichhelp in holistic development of the student. At Amity, a student makes his own time table and chooses subjects based on his/her interests. So students, don’t get disheartened, go and pursue your dreams, turn them into goals and achieve success in life.
