NOIDA. Cambridge school, Noida organized the All India AC Deb Memorial English Debate in the Roma Deb auditorium on 18th July, 2018. The topic for the debate was ‘Education in India has become an end in itself rather than being a means to an end.’ Dr. Shatarupa Sinha from Gargi College, University of Delhi, Dr. Shefali Shukla from Sri Venkateshwar College, New Delhi and Dr. Sramana Majumdar from Ambedkar University were the judges for the event. Seventeen schools took part in the competition. The debate commenced with the address of the Principal, Ms Dipannita Mondal, followed by the lighting of the lamp. All the participants debated on the issue with zest and enthusiasm and shared their critical views on the education system of India. The nterjectors threw a volley of questions to the participants and each participant rose to the occasion to defend their argument. The responses of the participants reflected how young minds perceive the issues in the education system and how keen they are to make a difference. It was a very thought provoking and insightful event as it reestablished the importance and need of a better education system in India. Ishaan Jain of Cambridge school, Indirapuram won the prize for the best speaker while Ananya Deswal of Army public school and Saimm Khan of Cambridge school, Indirapuram secured second and third position respectively. Mansi from Somerville school was declared the best interjector and the prize for the best team was won by Cambridge school, Indirapuram.
